![]() ![]() Hogwarts Legacy gets shit for its performance but I can hit those numbers on Ultra in that game with Raytracing turned on High. It varies from ~32-40fps in that area, and if I move to places nearby where view distance isn't a factor I might push up to 50, but it's way choppier than even that frame rate would suggest. I've also installed Nvidia's hotfix driver they released today since I posted earlier, although I'm not sure if there's a performance difference at all (didn't seem like it). Everything else is default, Vsync off, Motion Blur off, Frame Rate Limit set to 165 since I have a 165hz monitor. That's Ultra settings, using Auto Detect on the graphics menu. I didn't post any numbers, so I'm not sure how you'd reach that conclusion in the first place, but here's proof. For graphics alone, I'm not sure the upgrade's even worth $10 since it runs like pants. I'm not going to refund it since I just have the upgrade, but if I'd bought the brand spankin' new $60 package I sure as hell would be. The strange thing is, it doesn't really look significantly worse if you lower the settings anyway I haven't played it since the original launch, but the Low settings look pretty much how I remember it being on the old version.įor something that they touted as having better performance in their marketing for the Spacer's Choice version, it's pretty baffling that you'd need a top of the line system built in the last 6 months to play it on high/ultra (and I'm not even sure you could even then). That's a better PC than pretty much anything but the top of the top of the line out there right now, and it runs like absolute shit on the auto detected or default settings. ![]() Screen Effects in particular tanks the performance hard if it's turned up. ![]() I have a 3080, 32gb of RAM, and a 5800x3D, and to get it to run well enough to be playable at 1440p I had to turn most options down to at least medium. So "High settings" for this version seem to be way more involved than the "High settings" for the original, for example, with the same idea applied to the other settings levels, like we saw with The Witcher 3 Complete Edition. However, the visuals do look quite improved, even with Screen-Space-Global-Illumination turned off characters have quite better sub-surface scattering applied to faces and skin, specular effects on characters and metal look quite great, and I think there must be some sort of offline/baked version of Global Illumination that has been overhauled, because the indirect lighting around the game world looks better than the original. That's pretty abysmal compared to how well the original runs for me on the same hardware. This game is more GPU than CPU bound so I won't bother posting my CPU specs. On an RTX 2080 I have to drop to High settings with Global Illumination turned off to get a stable 60 FPS, with the resolution slider set to 50% at 4K (i.e 1080p internally). I don't think Obsidian handled this version of the game that seems to be Virtuos, the same people behind the Switch port, but I could totally be wrong on that.
